Behind the Quote #6a – “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

The mind works in very mysterious ways. However, when it comes to going after what it wants or calling off the hunt when it decides it no longer wants it, the mind works in very predictable ways.

Let’s start with what your mind does when it wants something. When your mind wants or desires something you may find yourself fixated on it. You may visualize, meditate, plan and talk about it with friends and family. All of these things work together in a sense to activate your magnetism, resourcefulness or attracting power, helping you draw closer whatever it is that you want to have. When you really want something your body is also activated and is actioned by your mind to help draw things closer. You will act, and take all the necessary steps and do so with so with energy, vitality and enthusiasm. Your mental conviction and physical cooperation turn something that you really want from an intangible idea to a physical reality. I can’t count the number of times friends have put their mind to something like paying off a debt, saving for a new car, or smashing out a challenging exercise routine and succeeded primarily because they wanted it really bad.

I also recall many of my patients who turned their physical health issues around, many of whom were told that there was no cure, largely because they got their mind working for them instead of against them. Many of them have actually said, “I was sick of being sick.” Another example is one friend of mine who tried everything to quit smoking from the traditional medical approaches to the non-traditional and when I saw him sometime later and asked him how he quit, he simply said, “I just decided one day that I wanted to.”

Clearly the mind has the power to know what it wants, go after it and draw it in like fisherman reeling in a catch. In our next blog, you will see why when you don’t want something excuses come to the surface and override your initial intentions?
